SESP advances in technology for preventing domestic violence through the use of data and artificial intelligence

On Monday (12/01), the Public Security Secretariat of Paraná (SESP) held the Public Security Data and Artificial Intelligence Seminar to present the development of the Domestic Violence Revictimization Algorithm technology. The tool aims to create an AI-based algorithm capable of estimating the risk of revictimization among women with a history of aggression.

Last Thursday (16), Leme participated in the meeting “Network of Sustainable Cities and Municipalities for Democracy,” held at the Windsor Leme Hotel in Rio de Janeiro. The event was organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) and brought together representatives from local governments, academics, and international organizations such as UN-Habitat and the Regional Center for Green Growth and Climate Change to discuss the impacts of climate change and the role of cities in COP30.

Leme and the University of Chicago meet at MPRJ to strengthen research on adolescents

Este projeto, iniciado em 2024 e realizado em parceria com a Secretaria de Segurança Pública do Paraná (SESP-PR) e o Banco Interamericano de Desenvolvimento (BID), objetiva desenvolver um modelo preditivo e um algoritmo de predição para avaliar o risco de revitimização de mulheres em casos de violência doméstica ocorridos no Paraná. Essa ferramenta tem o potencial de classificar os casos conforme a probabilidade de ocorrerem novas vitimizações, fornecendo insumos para a focalização de políticas públicas destinadas a combater a revitimização e o feminicídio. O modelo e o algoritmo propostos visam contribuir para uma abordagem mais célere na identificação das vítimas de alto risco e no manejo dos casos de violência doméstica, que superam numericamente a capacidade atual de atendimento dos órgãos de proteção do estado.

Leme is approved in a CNPq call for proposals to map the territorial presence of armed criminal groups in Rio de Janeiro

Last week, Leme – Laboratory for Violence Reduction was approved in the Talent Attraction and Retention program of the Conhecimento Brasil program, an initiative of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), with funding from the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT) and managed by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI). The public call aimed to repatriate Brazilian scientists working abroad or who completed their doctorates or postdoctoral studies outside Brazil since 2019.
