Between July 13 and 21, the Leme team responsible for evaluating the Integrated Program for Violence Prevention and Reduction (PReVio) conducted a series of meetings, institutional visits, and interviews in Ceará to continue the evaluation of programs implemented by the State Government. The activities aimed to strengthen research planning, align data collection strategies, and expand dialogue with partner institutions involved in implementing the initiatives.

The agenda was attended by Julia Guerra, Director of Projects and Research and Co-Founder of Leme, who coordinates the PReVio evaluation; Palloma Marciano, Project Leader; Alexandre Simões, Associate Researcher; and Tony Araújo, Senior Researcher. Throughout the week, the team carried out various activities related to monitoring the impact evaluations conducted under the program.

The first activity was an alignment meeting focused on the impact evaluation of Virando o Jogo, an initiative aimed at young people aged 15 to 22 experiencing greater socio-educational vulnerability. During the meeting, the team discussed aspects related to the administration of the questionnaires that will be used in the evaluation, a key step in generating evidence on the program’s effects on indicators such as school retention, reduction of risk situations, and participants’ well-being.

The program also included a meeting with Judge Ângela Gondim, from the Tempo de Justiça program of the Ceará Court of Justice. The meeting aimed to present the impact evaluation of Empodera, focused on strengthening the economic autonomy of women experiencing domestic violence, and to discuss opportunities for cooperation in sharing information related to femicide cases, contributing to the development of the research.

As part of the field activities, the team also conducted interviews with PADIN+ professionals in the municipality of Maranguape. The interviews are part of the data collection stage on the program’s implementation. PADIN+ seeks to strengthen parenting practices and promote child development among families experiencing social vulnerability through structured home visits.

PReVio is an initiative of the Government of Ceará financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), bringing together programs aimed at preventing violence at different stages of the life cycle. Leme was selected through a public call to conduct impact evaluations of the initiatives, generating evidence to support the improvement of public policies and strengthen the use of data in violence prevention and vulnerability reduction.
