On Thursday (01), the Public Security Leadership Academy held another event, this time aimed at representatives of public security institutions in Rio de Janeiro. During the meeting, five of the nine proposals developed by participants in the program’s first cohort were presented.
Held at FGV EBAPE in Rio de Janeiro, the event was organized in partnership by Leme, FGV EBAPE, the Institutional Security Office (GSI), and the Specialized Public Security Action Group (GAESP). The meeting brought together representatives from the Military Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro (PMERJ), the Civil Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro (PCERJ), the State Secretariat of Penal Police (SEPPEN), the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ), and the Court of Justice of the State of Rio de Janeiro (TJRJ), including secretaries and other actors in strategic positions within these institutions.
The agenda provided an opportunity to connect the proposals developed through the program with the institutions responsible for implementing public security policies in the state. After each presentation, attendees were able to comment on the proposals, contributing to the discussion of the institutional and operational challenges associated with their implementation.
This is the first step toward moving the proposals forward. The projects developed over the past six months provide a starting point for important discussions about improving public security in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The expectation is that the projects will continue to be refined and may give rise to concrete policies developed by those who experience the challenges of public security on a daily basis.
The booklet containing the proposals developed by the first cohort of the Public Security Leadership Academy will soon be available on the Leme website.
